At DEUKES, sustainability isn’t a buzzword—it’s the foundation of how we do business. From bee to jar, we protect what matters: ecosystems, honest livelihoods, and the authenticity of real, raw honey.

Our approach is rooted in a simple belief: true flavour comes from a thriving planet—and it’s our responsibility to keep it that way.

A Legacy of Stewardship

Founded by a trained honey sommelier from a three-generation beekeeping family, DEUKES has always stood for more than just taste. Our roots lie in protecting bees, empowering beekeepers, and shaping the future of responsible honey.

Our founder comes from a family of policy reformers in beekeeping, instrumental in co-authoring national laws that recognise beekeeping and apiculture as a professional agricultural practice in Moldova. Also, they had a strong contribution in establishing practices for ecological and bio beekeeping in Romania, and Kazakhstan. That same passion drives every decision we make.

Glocal by Nature

We source raw, monofloral honeys directly from local beekeeper communities across Eastern and Central Europe, always in harmony with their native ecosystems. Each honey reflects the distinct terroir of its origin—from the golden sunflower fields of Moldova to the wild sage-covered hills of the Carpathians, to the yellow horizons of English rapeseed. 

Our mission is to connect local taste with global appreciation, bringing these rare floral varieties to consumers who care about origin, purity, and sustainability.

Closed-Loop, Low Impact

Our packaging and processing take place in partnership with the Co-operative of Beekeepers "S.A. Sandic Group " —a Moldova-based facility that runs on a closed-loop production circuit. This significantly reduces energy use, packaging waste, and carbon footprint, aligning with our vision for a circular, regenerative food economy.

Empowering Beekeepers, Preserving Nature

We work closely with small-scale beekeepers who actively preserve pollinator habitats, avoid synthetic chemicals, and follow regenerative agriculture practices that enrich biodiversity.

But we don’t stop there. Through partnerships with organisations like: USAID UNDP,  The World Bank, EU Fund for Development and Local Authorities, we deliver training in sustainable beekeeping, prioritising women, youth, and rural entrepreneurs. This helps build resilient communities while safeguarding natural ecosystems.

Traceability: Built In, Not Bolted On

We believe every jar should tell a story.

That’s why we’ve built a proprietary traceability platform that lets you trace each DEUKES jar back to:

 • The individual beekeeper

 • The specific field or foraging zone where the honey was harvested

We’ve been using this system long before it became a regulatory requirement—because trust should never be optional. It’s also part of our deep-rooted mission to combat the global crisis of fake honey, which has misled consumers and harmed ethical producers for decades.
